About

Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE) has invested the last 24 months on building infrastructure and capacity within its decentralized system on the opioid crisis in New York State. In early 2019, two statewide opioid trainings were offered to CCE County Association leadership and program staff. The trainings invited guest presenters from a myriad of local, state and federal stakeholders working to address the opioid crisis. These presenters represented the public/mental health system, county coalitions, clinical health, criminal justice, family support programs, as well as state and federal policy makers from the NYS AIDS Institute, SAMHSA and the USDA. Building on the interest and need identified at these trainings, CCE Administration has created an Opioid Program Work Team (PWT). Program Work Teams bring together CCE County staff, Cornell faculty and other stakeholders to focus on a specific program area to develop resources and programs. Currently there are over 100 members from the CCE system participating in the Opioid PWT.
